Business in Boston

intro

Some unanticipated business required a trip to Boston so that I could attend a meeting. The meeting was scheduled for a Friday and I was thankful that I would be able to stay over the weekend and spend some time exploring the city.

I asked Susan if she wanted to join me. She did want to go, but also had some obligations that she couldn’t get out of. She looked at me a little funny during the discussion. “Didn’t you and Barbara (my ex-wife) go to Boston a couple times.” – “Hmm, I think we did. It was a long time ago”. We absolutely did, but I wasn’t going to share this with Susan.

Hyatt Fisherman’s Warf San Francisco

outing

Susan and I had an expiring award night with Hyatt at the end of February and took the opportunity to redeem the award for an evening in the San Francisco bay area. Our go to Hyatt in San Francisco is the Regency which sits right next to Ferry Building on the Embarcadero. It’s a great property (albeit a little older) and a favorite of ours.

American Airlines Domestic First Class – Chicago To San Francisco

Boeing-737-820 gty

We left the Flagship Lounge and gate K7 was a short 5 minute down the K Concourse. We arrived 10 minutes early and after our short wait, the gate agent called for the boarding process to begin. It was right on schedule. American’s Boeing 737-800 craft has 16 seats in the first class cabin, in a very standard 4 rows of 2 + 2 configuration. As we came onto plane a friendly male flight attended greeted everyone “hello” as they walked on in. The cabin looked fairly new and clean. Because we had booked the itinerary a few days previously, Susan and I were seated apart in 6A and 6F.

American Airlines Flagship Lounge – Chicago

ord intro

After exiting our Cathay Pacific flight from Hong Kong Susan and I proceeded to an American Airlines lounge. Because we had reserved this flight just 4 days earlier I really hadn’t a chance to research our lounge options. After looking at a terminal map I realized that American Airlines had a First Class Flagship Lounge in the airport. American has only 4 of these locations in the US including Los Angeles, Dallas, Chicago and Miami. Additionally, there is one at London Heathrow.

After a good night’s rest, we prepared for our day at the Pier followed by Cathay Pacific first class flight home. Regal Airport Hotel – Superior Room

lobby r

On our return trip we had an overnight stay in Hong Kong and elected to stay at the Regal Airport Hotel which is connected directly with the Hong Kong airport. Our cost for a 1-night stay was $145.00 all in, and it seemed like an easy choice. After exiting our flight, we headed to immigration and were processed quickly. We then proceeded into the main baggage hall. From there signage indicated our path directly to the hotel. We were transiting though Asia a couple weeks before Chinese New Year and the hotel lobby was decorated in a festive manner. There was a decent line for check in but it moved quickly and we were processed for our room.

Once we exited the lounge we were right at our departure point, Gate 6. After waiting for a 10 minutes the agents called for the business class section to board. Turing left we walked down glass encased corridor, turned right and proceeded down an extended jetway. We entered from the second door on the plane and turned left into the business class cabin.
