Unforeseen Events

maldivesPark Hyatt Maldives Hadahaa

Susan and I used quite a few US Air miles while they were still a part of the Star Alliance group, and took a great trip through Asia and on to the Maldives back at the beginning of 2015. The highlight of the trip was staying at the Park Hyatt Hadahaa in the Maldives. We both loved the resort. I mean REALLY loved it. We enjoyed our stay so much we booked another trip there for 2016.

Review: Alaska Airlines Domestic First Class – Seattle To Sacramento

My flight was leaving from the North Satellite Terminal, gate N15, so I left the lounge in Concourse A and headed to the Shuttle Train and then to the North Loop Train. The airport trains run often and it was a quick 15 minutes to get to the N gates. I headed up the escalator and gate N15 was directly at the top.

The Club At SEA – Concourse A

entry door

From an earlier post, I counted up to 9 different airport lounges that are possible visit at Seattle. The Chase Business Bold Ink card use to include membership in the “Lounge Club” access program, which includes “The Club at SEA” locations. When Chase decided to discontinue this service they gave its existing customers a year’s notice and membership. My membership in the “Lounge Club” was ending after the month of April, and so I decided to visit and review “The Club at SEA” in Concourse A while I still had access.

We exited the Jetway into the N Satellite terminal at Seattle Airport. Our connection flight boarded in 20 minutes so, after quickly ingesting my burrito, we headed to gate C16D in the C Concourse that is a part of the main terminal. We took the escalator down to the North Loop Train and traveled over to the C Concourse.

rabbitTerminal B Sacramento International Airport

Susan and I arrived at Sacramento Airport’s Terminal B at 10:00am on a Friday morning and parked in the airports only parking garage. At check-in we were processed quickly by a sweet girl working the Alaska Airlines ticket counter, and after each of us checked a bag we headed to our gate for a 11:35am departure time. Lounge Scene Seattle Airport

Seattle SEABeautiful Seattle Airport

I love visiting airport lounges, from the really big gorgeous ones to little funky ones tucked away in corners. The whole airport lounge thing is just so weird and diverse. Rules for visiting, inter-airline agreements, product differentiation, and the psychological mindset that attracts customers to visit them. It’s really a study in marketing, economics, and the traveling culture. Continue reading “Lounge Scene Seattle Airport”

My Other Hotel Rewards Program

I have been a Hyatt Gold Passport member for over 7 years. Most of that time I’ve been platinum level, and in 2014 when Hyatt offered a “Diamond Status Challenge” I decided to take it. The timing was good as we happened to have a lot of Hyatt stays planed, and the challenge was successfully completed. I requalified in 2015, and both Susan and I have found a lot of value in maintaining my diamond level with Hyatt.

Delta Domestic First Class – Minneapolis To Sacramento

IMG_6939

Since our flight was delayed 18 minutes our connection was cut down from 53 to 35 minutes. On top of that, we arrived at gate G14 and my departing flight DL 1260 was going out of gate D4, the opposite side of the airport. I really enjoy the quirky airport that Minneapolis is, but because of this tight connection I wasn’t going to be spending much time here.

Delta Domestic First Class – New York To Minneapolis

After enjoying my first visit to the LGA Centurion Club I walked back to Terminal C. Although it was early in the morning lines were already starting to form at security. Fortunately, I was TSA PreCheck and that line was relatively short. I find this to be typically the case at LGA and TSAPre is especially useful at this airport. After a few minutes I was through security and on my way to the gate.
