Centurion Lounge – New York LaGuardia Airport

I awoke and headed out to LaGuardia airport at 5:00am via a New York yellow cab. My flight didn’t depart until 8:10am, but I wanted to get to the airport early and check out the American Express Centurion Club. My flight was departing out of Terminal C and the Centurion Club was located in Terminal B. I didn’t know how long it was going to take to get between terminals but I wanted give myself plenty of time.

Delta, The Long Goodbye – Part 2

Certainly elite status with Delta is not what it used to be. This is also true with the other large American airlines including United, American and Southwest.  Even so, there was still enough value in the program in order to retain my participation. Until recently that is. The changes in the comfort+ seating benefits tipped the scales and convinced me to make changes – eventually.

Delta, The Long Goodbye – Part 1

“What’s the matter?” Susan asked. She could tell something was bothering me as I paced about the house. “I think I’m going to stop trying for elite status with Delta” I answered. “Really!?” Susan was surprised. “But Delta has all those great people on their planes and they always treat us so nice” she countered.

Susan was right. We were always treated nice by Delta, and they’ve been a good airline to have elite status with. But things have changed. Continue reading “Delta, The Long Goodbye – Part 1”

Strange Math – What Does AS+VX=

Alaska Virgin

It’s being reported by several sources that as soon as Monday Alaska Airlines will announce a deal to acquire Virgin America. Many of us are scratching our heads and saying why? Missed A Good One

JHB

I’m a full time professional and my work weeks can be fairly demanding. Meetings, deadlines, and impatience customers are all part of the deal. I feel fortunate to have my career, that I enjoy my work, and that business is good.

Yesterday I had just finished a conversation with a fellow associates and had about 5 minutes before my next meeting. I glanced at my phone while I waited for the Keurig to finish and saw this post from Zach Honig at The Points Guy. There was a deal going on with Delta for round trip business class tickets from San Francisco to South Africa for $2,200. Routings were apparently available with KLM trough Europe and on Delta’s Atlanta to Johannesburg route. Holly smokes! This sounded too good to be true. Continue reading “Missed A Good One”

Review: Park Hyatt New York, New Year’s Eve

When Scott invited me out for the soiree, the invite also included staying at his Park Avenue apartment with him and his family. It was a generous offer and one I gladly took. About week later he called and let me know that on the evening of December 31st his sister in-law was in town and would need the guest bed for that one night. I completely understood, but shoot, that evening was going to be expensive in New York.

Review: Delta Transcontinental Business Class – Los Angeles to New York

Our flight from SMF we arrived at gate 68 terminal 6. Our departure was gate 51B in terminal 5. Also we had arrived 30 minutes later than scheduled on the SMF leg, so there wasn’t time for a lounge visit and I needed to head directly to gate 51B. When making connections between terminal 5 and 6, travelers need to access an underground tunnel airside between the terminals.
