The Club At SEA – Concourse A

entry door

From an earlier post, I counted up to 9 different airport lounges that are possible visit at Seattle. The Chase Business Bold Ink card use to include membership in the “Lounge Club” access program, which includes “The Club at SEA” locations. When Chase decided to discontinue this service they gave its existing customers a year’s notice and membership. My membership in the “Lounge Club” was ending after the month of April, and so I decided to visit and review “The Club at SEA” in Concourse A while I still had access.

From Concourse C you head out towards the main terminal hub and walk across to the entry point for Concourse A. The Club at SEA is at the end of the concourse across from gate A11 and it’s a bit of a walk to that end. Once there, you head up 1 flight of stairs and into the club.

As I entered the lounge the associate checked my access card and ticket, and then welcomed me in. I heard the manager mention that Delta was also using this lounge for international departures out of the A gates. I have just such a flight in a few months, and had I known I would be using this lounge later this summer I would have probably picked another lounge to checkout. At least I would know what this lounge was like for our summer trip.

You enter the lounge through an curved corridor and into the main space. Off the corridor are 2 washrooms, men’s and women’s. The main part of the lounge is made up of 2 open seating areas broken up by a bar and high table dining area. The seating area back and to the left as you enter has nice daylighting and views of, well, a road in front of the airport. You can actually see traffic driving by. To the right are views of the open Concourse A. In the back of the first seating area is a business area made up of work cubicles. The men’s washroom was clean and in good shape. There is also a private conference room you can rent.

Just before the main bar and to the left are a couple display tables with soup, a coffee machine, and such. The bar has a number a tasty snacks put out, as well a full complement of drinks. Next to the bar is a refrigerated drink cabinet with soda, water and other beverages available for the taking. The furniture and décor was northwest casual with a dash of funky. Think medium dark woods, splash of green and blue and throw in some polka dots. The end result design aesthetic was fairly ordinary.

The lounge was quiet and mostly empty. There were about 10 other people in the space during my visit. I sat in the first seating area and tried a cup of the tomato soup and a roll. The roll was ok, the soup was hot and very good. I also had one of the machine cappuccinos, and it was pretty good as well. I spent just over an hour in the space catching up on some work.

In Summary:

I would rate The Club at SEA as an above average U.S. based lounge. The soup was good but the overall food offering was a little lite. The décor is slightly dated and bland. But the drinks and snacks are well stocked and there was a lot of space for spreading out to work. The staff was really on the ball at keeping everything tidy. The Alaska Airlines and Delta lounges can be very overcrowded; a problem this lounge doesn’t seem to have. If your flying out of Concourse A, it is a nice space to relax before your flight.
