When my daughter started applying for colleges, much to my surprise, the University of Hawaii at Manoa was at the top of her list. At the time I hadn’t visited Honolulu for over 30 years and made the flippant comment, “Why would you want to attend college there!?” Fast forward a couple years and a college tour later and she couldn’t be happier with her choice. I have to agree. The college is great and a perfect fit for what she wants to do.

Because of her decision, we have had several visits to Honolulu, the college, and the island of Oahu. Our family has always enjoyed our vacations to Hawaii, but this mostly included Maui and Kauai. We have now really gotten to know “the gathering place” and enjoy the most populous city and island of the state of Hawaii.
Honolulu has a great restaurants, night life (according to my daughter), and natural attractions. There is always more to do than we have time for, and Honolulu has been growing and updating in the short period since we started visiting. In considering a vacation to “the islands” please don’t overlook Honolulu, or the entire island of Oahu. Included are some pictures of our most recent of many visits.
